Jobs for starters and recent graduates

Just graduated or looking for your first job in the Netherlands? Carisly checks 2,141 Dutch employers every day, including junior, trainee and graduate roles. You apply directly with the employer, without a staffing or recruitment agency in between.

What to search for as a starter

  • Junior: a regular role for people with little experience, often with a fixed mentor.
  • Traineeship: a programme of one to three years with rotations across teams or assignments, often with training.
  • Graduate: the English name for a traineeship or starter role, common at international employers.
  • Starter or young professional: employers also use these words in the job title.

Stand out without much work experience

  • Show what you did do: internship, thesis project, side job, board year or volunteering, with a concrete result.
  • A clear one-page CV works best. The CV builder makes one that applicant tracking systems read well.
  • Write a short letter per job about why this employer. Members write a tailored letter for every job and practise the interview for that role.
  • Not sure which way to go? Take the career test to see which fields suit you, with real jobs.
